We have received an announcement from GE that Zoneline prices will increase Jan 1, 2012. Some of these increases are significant, 8-10% or more. GE Zonelines Now Shipping

After a lengthy recall process, GE Zoneline PTAC units are finally beginning to ship. If you currently have units on order with us, they have probably shipped by now. If not, they will ship shortly. GE technicians are working to replace the defective triac modules in units already in service, as well as unsold units in their warehouse and at distributor locations.
GE Zoneline has been the industry standard in PTAC units since 1961.

GE Zoneline Recall Notice

In June , 2011 , GE issued a recall of certain models of GE Zoneline PTAC units due to a fire risk. In certain units, wiring to a component that regulates the PTAC heater can fail, resulting in a potential fire hazard. GE and Sharp (the manufacturer) have voluntarily recalled over 90,000 PTAC units built from January 2010 to March 2011. Of those units, there have been 4 reports involving smoke and/or fire. PTAC Maintenance For Your Zoneline

The best way to ensure long life and maximum return on your investment in your HVAC equipment is by doing some basic maintenance. PTAC units, especially in a commercial environment like a hotel, are not always treated well by users. Still in other applications, like condos, apartments, offices, etc., the PTAC unit becomes a shelf, plant stand, picture gallery, and the list goes on. Some basic monthly and annual checks and cleaning can improve performance and make the equipment last longer.
